Arbeit – Bewegung – Geschichte (Labour – Movement – History) is a triannual academic journal covering the history of German and international labour movements. From 2002-2015 it was known as „Jahrbuch für Forschungen zur Geschichte der Arbeiterbewegung“ (Labour History Yearbook).
The journal is published in German language but has an international and transnational focus. In addition to labour history, „Arbeit – Bewegung – Geschichte“ is a forum for research on social movements, such as the history of women’s liberation or the antifascist resistance movements in Germany and Europe.
In addition to its articles, the journal includes a documentary section which presents original publications of German-language sources and documents on labour history. Each issue also includes a review section covering new titles in the field.
The journal was established in 2002 and is published by the „Förderverein für Forschungen zur Geschichte der Arbeiterbewegung“ (Association for the Promotion of Research on the Labour Movement).
International authors are invited to contribute, translations from English and other languages may be arranged if the editors accept a paper. All submissions are subject to a review process. Each submission is reviewed by at least two researchers from our team of editors, additional reviews by members of our editorial board might be requested. The editors take care that reviewers and authors are not affiliated to the same institution.
All essays published with „Arbeit – Bewegung – Geschichte“ are listed in the bibliographical database Bibliographie zur Geschichte der Arbeiterbewegung (BizGA).
